The Cave

This is what we call "The Cave". It is very steep and rugged. We could not wait for Eyal to come to SA because we thought he would take one look at it and clean it with ease. Well, he did not. He stared at it for a while and did it in sections. It made us feel much better because we realize that we may be better than we thought. Scott and I are going to start working on it. Maybe we will have it mastered next time Eyal visits. I still think I need brakes for some of this stuff.

One tired guy

For anyone that says Mountain Unicycling is a sissy sport, you give it a try and get back to me.

Some great fun!

So this is me tumbling down the hill at OP Schnabel Park. It was a cool fall because I did not get hurt. Thanks to "Trapper" for taking the photos and putting them together. Although it may not look like it in the pick, this is a rather steep hill which makes it very easy to get out of control. That is exactly what I did. If you look really close, you can see Eric and Scott Laughing at me. I am very luck to not have any lasting injury so far. I hope it stays that way.

This was the weekend that Eyal from Santa Barbara came to visit. He is quite a rider. My goal is to reach his level in a couple of years. We have the terrain to do it, but it is a matter of really working on my technique. Scott Wallis is a great coach when it comes to breaking down each part so that from analyzing every portion of a climb or a decent we can become better. It is beneficial to us both to have someone like Eyal come to SA because it gives us a kick in the rear to really push ourselves into doing stuff we normally would not do. For example. Eyal, Scott, Eric and I were casually riding during our warmup run section and Eyal pointed out that a fallen tree would make for a great skinny. I thought, huh, we have ridden by there many times and it never crossed our minds to try it. We stopped for a while and it turned out to be great fun.

Muni is a wonderful sport because there is always a challenge. Just when you think you have mastered something, you can always take another look at it and find something harder. I will admit that I am at a point where I need to try and step it up a bit and I think after Eyal's visit, he gave me the inspiration to do just that.
